Driving to a Massage client in Haiku

As I was on my way Saturday to do a massage in Haiku I passed the Valley Isle Memorial Park just as two jets were flying over to pay their respects.  I had just seen the jumpers fall from the sky with the US flag.

Sometimes you pass an event or gathering of people and can feel something important is happening, in this case feel the greatness and impact that one individual’s life has made on this earth.  Later I was to find out it was Kraig Vickers’ life and achievements which were being celebrated.  I don’t know him or his family but will remember him and what he has done for me indirectly.

Reading about him and his life and what he did for others has made an impression and affected my life – isn’t that what we are all trying to achieve?

If we can live a life helping others and making a positive impression on others, isn’t that a life worth living?

It’s easy to get caught up in the day to day running of our lives and businesses.  Write your blog, update your status, return your phone calls, exercise, meditate, do your chores, clean the house, do the laundry and on and on and on.  And the one thing we all have in common is that it can all end in an instant and all the things which were stressing us out of our minds with panic or fear are meaningless and forgotten.

A person’s passing into the next phase of their plan can often point out the fleetingness and smallness of this lifetime.   Usually the ones who lived to the fullest and accepted nothing less than greatness can help us stop the nonsense and focus on the positive.

Although I didn’t know him I feel like Kraig was one of those who accepted no less than extraordinary in his lifetime here.
