Smoking Cessation

“The unconscious mind is decidedly simple, unaffected, straightforward and honest. It hasn’t got all of this facade, this veneer of what we call adult culture. It’s rather simple, rather childish. It is direct and free.”

-Milton H. Erickson

So what does the above quote mean? It means that if you use the right tool (like hypnosis) to tell the simple unconscious mind what to do it will do it directly and usually quite happily because it does not have all the accumulated stuff of adulthood to argue with you.

For example if you ask a four year old child to take out the trash, wash your car or wash the dishes they are often excited and eager to please you because the activity is new and somewhat like a game to them. They can’t wait to start and finish the task. This is what it’s like to use the unconscious mind to change a habit pattern. The task will get done.

What happens when you ask an 18, 20 or 30 year old to take out the trash, wash your car or wash the dishes? Usually, unless your raising a saint, an entire litany of excuses come out coupled with whining, fidgeting, avoidance etc. until maybe they do it or maybe they don’t. This is what it’s like to consciously try to change a habit pattern without having the unconscious mind on board with you. Maybe, sooner or later or never the task will get done.

So what’s the point and how does this relate to you becoming an ex-smoker? Simply put, if you use hypnotherapy as a tool to become an ex-smoker once and for all, you are telling the unconscious mind (subconscious mind) to bring about your state of being an ex-smoker. Essentially you’re telling it to take out the trash and it’s excited to do this task for you. The task will get done.

I could go on and on with statistics about smoking and why it’s a good idea to be an ex-smoker but I think the links I’ve included below are much better at doing this. So enjoy reading them and know that Hypnotherapy works when it comes to being an ex-smoker as long as you are ready and willing to make the change for yourself.

It is not necessary to have a medical referral from your doctor to receive hypnotherapy for smoking cessation but I’m sure your doctor would love to know you are using hypnosis to reach the ex-smoker state. If you are using any patches or nicotine substitutes while under a doctor’s supervision, then yes, definitely tell them you are planning on using hypnosis for quitting smoking.

Here are a few links of some very helpful articles about being an ex-smoker and if you like to see what famous people are doing there is a link to a fantastic web-site as well.

I would love to help you be an ex-smoker and look forward to hearing from you soon.
